Buenos Aires, October 21, 2021 - Promoting transparency through access to information, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) participated in the 77th General Assembly of the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA), which focused on the freedom and sustainability of the media.

"Without transparency there is no development, and that is why CABEI has implemented a Policy on Access to Public Information in order to generate greater openness about its activities, reinforce accountability and promote the relationship with its stakeholders," highlighted CABEI Executive President Dante Mossi.

At the meeting, which was attended by 62 panelists and speakers from the newspaper industry and areas related to freedom of expression, human rights, politics and literature, the director of Argentina and Colombia at CABEI and president of the Access to Information Committee, Maximiliano Alonso, spoke on the panel "Sustainability in the face of democracy".

"We are facing the need for an intra-media metamorphosis to recover the value of information as a public good, without losing competitiveness. At the same time, we must reduce the digital divide by intensifying policies of access to technology," said Alonso, who emphasized the dilemma presented by cybersecurity in relation to trust in the media and the verification of information.

In this regard, CABEI and the IAPA are working on a joint project on artificial intelligence for the media that will enable journalists to develop quality content.
