Guatemala City, November 08, 2024.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) has taken a significant step towards a more sustainable energy future in Central America through a knowledge exchange mission in the Republic of China (Taiwan).

With the support of the Taiwan-CABEI Partnership Trust Fund (TCPT), a delegation from Guatemala and Belize participated in the Taiwan Sustainable Expo (TASS 2024), where they immersed themselves in the dynamic Taiwanese innovation ecosystem and learned about the latest trends in circular solutions and clean technologies. In addition, the delegation made visits to leading companies in the sector, such as TRON-E manufacturers of high-efficiency electric buses, respectively, which allowed them to learn first-hand about the most advanced technologies and production processes.

Exchanges with Taiwanese government institutions, such as the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, and Transport were essential to learn about the policies and strategies implemented in Taiwan to promote clean energy and sustainable mobility. These experiences will serve as a basis for designing and implementing similar projects in Central America, adapting best practices to the regional reality.

This cooperation mission reaffirms CABEI's role as a leader in promoting clean energy for Central America. By incorporating Taiwan's best practices and strengthening local knowledge, a change towards a more sustainable energy matrix is promoted, helping to mitigate climate change, and fostering economic development for the benefit of millions of people in the region.
