San Salvador, June 1, 2021. - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) today signed a loan agreement for up to US$109 million with the Republic of El Salvador for the "Program to Modernize Citizen Security Institutions within the framework of financing Phase III of the Territorial Control Plan.”

This program seeks to improve the operational capacity of the National Civil Police and the Ministry of National Defense in order to reduce the main levels of violence and criminal structures in 22 municipalities in the country, directly benefiting 2.8 million people in the area of influence.

"For CABEI, this type of initiative is very important, as it strengthens citizen security, which guarantees the quality of life and well-being of Salvadorans, as well as the country's economic and social development," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

This initiative is framed within CABEI's 2020-2024 Institutional Strategy in its Sustainable Competitiveness Axis, which generates social capacities that lead to achieving the objective of improving the wellbeing and quality of life in the Central American region.

It also contributes to the public security provisions of the Cuscatlán Plan and, at the regional level, to the Central American Security Strategy Support Program - PA ESCA.
