CABEI's contributions range from financing for protective medical equipment to food for vulnerable groups.

Tegucigalpa, August 4, 2020.- The COVID-19 health crisis that is currently affecting a large part of the world hinders the living conditions of many people. To that end, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) decided to provide different donations to organizations focused on serving families at social risk in Panama.

CABEI authorized a US$4,500.00 donation to Casa Hogar El Buen Samaritano Foundation for the procurement of food and medication to support HIV/AIDS patients lacking financial resources and their families.

Furthermore, the Bank contributed US$7,000.00 to Unión Nacional de Ciegos de Panamá. Such funds will be used to procure hygiene supplies (alcoholic gel, masks, gloves, liquid soap). The donation also includes food supplies for approximately 80 visually impaired people of both genders; most of whom are unemployed or freelancers that are unable to leave their homes.

Likewise, the Bank made a US$7,000 donation to the Panamanian Food Bank. The donation will be used to purchase basic necessities, restock inventory and send food inputs to beneficiary organizations that are in charge of delivering such to their communities in order to alleviate food insecurity in the vulnerable population they attend.

With a focus on reducing the spread of the virus, the Bank supported the La Chorrera Rotary Club with US$6,200.00 for supplies and inputs necessary to safeguard the health of personnel and Covid19 patients at Nicolás A. Solano hospital.

In the framework of its Corporate Environmental and Social Responsibility System, CABEI has carried out significant efforts to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in its member countries.
