CABEI allocates more funds to support the population affected by Hurricane Fiona in the Dominican Republic
This second donation of US$500,000 brings the multilateral's total to US$1.0 million to meet the population’s basic needs.
Tegucigalpa, October 17th, 2022.- In solidarity with the Dominican families who suffered damages during the passage of Hurricane Fiona, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), for the second time approved emergency and natural disaster aid for US$500,000 to the Dominican Republic.
"In difficult times, CABEI is present to support its member countries and joins in the solidarity aid that we know will support the families affected by this natural phenomenon so that they can cover their basic needs," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.
The resources will be used by the Dominican Republic Government who will coordinate the activities contemplated as part of this donation, which could include purchase of food, clean water and basic necessities, purchase of medicines, supplies for shelters, infrastructure repairs, among other needs required to address the emergency.
CABEI will continue to support its member countries with this type of emergency aid in situations of natural disasters in order to guarantee the lives and safety of citizens.
