CABEI to hire consulting firm to prepare feasibility study and final design for six earth dams in Honduras
Firms interested in the bidding process may participate until October 26.
Tegucigalpa, October 01, 2021.- In order to meet the technical and economic requirements for the construction of six earth dams in Honduras, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) launched a public bidding process to hire a firm to prepare the feasibility studies and final designs for this project.
CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, said, "We are very excited about the launch of this public bidding process and invite consulting firms to submit their bids and participate in this process that will allow us to advance in the future construction of these important works and thus contribute to reducing Honduras' vulnerability to the effects of climate change".
This type of dams have a multipurpose character because they are works that will regulate flows, supply water for human consumption and irrigation production, and strengthen the capacity to mitigate damages in case of floods. In addition, they will represent a saving since they can be up to eight times less expensive than concrete dams.
The Terms of Reference for the bidding process are available on CABEI's website and establish the requirements for the consulting firm and work team, deliverables, bid evaluation methods, among other aspects.
The deadline for receipt of bids is October 26th of this year. The contract will have a duration of twelve months.
This initiative will contribute to the 2030 Agenda in line with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 6) that seeks to ensure the availability of water and sanitation for the global population, under sustainable and equitable management.
