· The next edition of the platform for information, research, and public opinion formation on sustainable human development in Central America will be published in 2024.

San José, September 8, 2022.- Supporting the preparation, publication and dissemination of the Seventh Report of the State of the Region, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approved a non-refundable technical cooperation for US$105,000 to the National Council of Rectors (CONARE, for its acronym in Spanish) of Costa Rica, an organization in charge of the preparation of extensive research.

"Continuing our support for the preparation of the next report goes hand in hand with the importance we attach as a multilateral body to well-being, quality of life and Central American integration, allowing us to reflect in an informed way on the present and future of our region through a thorough and rigorous study that considers the opinions and visions of different sectors of the region that contribute to making valuable decisions and formulating public policies on issues of common interest" said the executive president of CABEI, Dr. Dante Mossi.

For his part, Mr. Jorge Vargas Cullell, Director of the State of the Nation, Program to which the State of the Region belongs, said: "the support from CABEI to the State of the Region constitutes a valuable mechanism to articulate the Bank's experience and needs to the process of defining the agenda and the research agenda of the Report. This link also contributes to giving greater projection and expands the scope of the consultation, discussion, and analysis processes associated with its preparation".

This edition, to be published in 2024, will contain a structured synopsis based on the main research findings; the monitoring of the main demographic, social, economic, environmental and political trends during the period 2015-2022 to identify advances, setbacks, stagnations, as well as the analysis and monitoring of the regional integration process; among other relevant issues of sustainable human development that will be identified based on the regional consultation process that the State of the Region will soon execute.

The new contribution from CABEI is part of the Framework Collaboration Agreement signed in 2020 with CONARE, which allowed the preparation and publication of the previous edition. The State of the Region reports are considered a system of monitoring and analysis of sustainable human development in Central America and the Dominican Republic, which since 1996 has helped the societies of the isthmus to know and analyze their reality based on updated, objective, relevant and complete information on the shared dynamics of development between countries.
