CABEI provides support for the Strengthening and Modernization of the Health and Education Sectors in the Republic of Panama

Through this initiative, the acquisition of medical equipment and collaboration with the STEAM Education Agenda will be managed to support efforts in the Health and Education sectors.

Mérida, Yucatán, September 21st, 2021. - In support of Panama's health and education sector actions, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approves non-reimbursable financial cooperation to founding and non-founding regional countries for the Acquisition of mammography, optometry and audiometry equipment that will contribute to expanding access to health coverage in Panama, as well as collaboration for the Development of a STEAM Education Agenda.

This non-reimbursable financial cooperation is equivalent to US$1,000,000 and will contribute to improving access to specialized health services for women, children and adults in hard-to-reach areas and vulnerable communities, as well as to improving the quality of education through the implementation of STEAM methodology in pilot programs that will enable the development of public policies in the Panamanian educational system.

CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, highlighted: "This is yet another example of our support to our member countries, improving access to health and education for the most vulnerable sectors. Protecting the most vulnerable people is even more relevant in these times."

This non-reimbursable financial cooperation will benefit approximately 72,152 people in rural areas, providing them with access to health services and access to methodologies that favor education.
