CABEI supports Panama with US$500,000 for population affected by hurricane Eta

CABEI's non-refundable cooperation is to quickly support Panamanians in need.

Tegucigalpa, November 25, 2020.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), approved a non-reimbursable cooperation in the amount of US$500 thousand dollars to support the Government of Panama in the attention of the emergency caused by the recent storm Eta.

With these resources, the multilateral development agency expects to finance the acquisition of emergency needs for the humanitarian attention of the affected families. In that sense, the Executive President Dr. Dante Mossi commented that: "The financial aid is a sample of solidarity of CABEI with this partner country with the purpose of mitigating the damages caused by floods caused by this natural phenomenon".

President Mossi expressed his solidarity with the people of Central America, while reiterating that this donation is expected to provide supportive solutions to alleviate the needs of displaced persons and the communities that need it most.

The proposed grant is consistent with the general guidelines for the Emergency Aid Fund.  In the future, CABEI's commitment is to continue contributing to the economic and social development efforts and the integration of the region.
