Tegucigalpa, February 28th, 2022.- The objective of a memorandum of understanding signed today between the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the Colombian Ministry of Labor, the National Learning Service (SENA) and the Zamorano Pan-American Agricultural School is to jointly support vulnerable populations in developing skills and preparing them for their insertion into the labor market.

Through this agreement, the institutions will strengthen the agricultural skills of the rural population through apprenticeship training, on-site internships and strategies for the exchange of knowledge of instructors and professors from SENA and Universidad El Zamorano. At the same time, short and intensive courses will be held to exchange knowledge in production chains, considering the technological, environmental and production impacts in the world.

CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, emphasized, "It is a source of great satisfaction for CABEI to sponsor initiatives such as these that promote the professional development of vulnerable sectors by providing them with access to training that will later enable them to find employment to improve their quality of life and contribute to their countries' economic sector.”

Another of the scopes is the implementation of a life cycle analysis system and environmental impacts of processes and/or products of the Universidad Zamorano de Honduras' productive units to SENA.

In this regard, the Colombian Minister of Labor, Ángel Custodio Cabrera Baez, indicated that “we are institutions with different and complementary competencies seeking to promote agricultural employability in Colombia and the region... without a doubt, the implementation of this memorandum will not only affect the agricultural sector in my country, but also in Latin America.”

Tanya Müller García, commented "the signing of this agreement will open doors to work and support the most vulnerable populations in developing their skills and being better prepared for their insertion into the labor market. We thank the Ministry of Labor, SENA and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration for trusting in the capabilities of our institution to face this common challenge."

For his part, SENA General Director Dr. Carlos Mario Estrada Molina said: "We have a common vision with Zamorano University to train talents that promote innovation and productivity in the rural sector. Through this Memorandum of Understanding we will continue to strengthen SENA's technical capabilities in topics related to 4.0 Industry, agriculture and sustainable development that will allow us to prepare apprentices to respond to the productive sector's needs."

CABEI is the most relevant development multilateral for the Central American region. Its resources are continuously invested in projects that contribute to the reduction of poverty and inequality, as well as to the strengthening of regional integration and the competitive insertion of its members in the world economy, with special attention to environmental sustainability.
