Strengthening of Health Infrastructure for Penitentiary Units and Border Health Units.

The program's objective is to strengthen public health care capacity by improving health infrastructure in prison complexes and border units, considering the gender perspective.

It will be financed with US$ 50 million for the purchase and installation of sanitary modules and their equipment for 30 Health Isolation Centers (CAS) in prisons and 13 Border Health Units (USF). The project is executed by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) with the support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) as procurement agent.

The CASs and USFs are a response to primary care or intermediate therapy in priority locations to prevent the spread of Covid19 infections, among other diseases.

The initiative has a gender component, since the infrastructure developed will provide care for women prisoners suffering from respiratory diseases such as COVID-19 and other diseases that affect them.

The construction system is of quick assembly and dry construction, as it is implemented on reinforced concrete slabs, which allows a quick installation of the modules.

The infrastructure and equipment within the framework of the program are of a permanent nature with installed capacity to attend a diversity of cases or pathologies, thus ensuring rapid attention. The program will have a positive impact on Argentina's healthcare system.
