The purpose of the operation is to strengthen the Argentine State's health policies with a US$32 million loan from CABEI.

The project consists of improving the National Nominal Vaccination Registry (NOMIVAC), building and equipping six provincial vaccine depots, improving and equipping ten regional depots in the province of Buenos Aires, and building twelve sustainable vaccinatories in rural areas and communities of indigenous peoples.

The Program's area of influence includes the provinces of Buenos Aires, La Rioja, Chubut, Corrientes, Jujuy, Neuquén and San Juan for the construction or improvement of vaccine depots, with a view to having a nationwide scope with the implementation of the Nomivac platform.

In return, the Argentine government will develop cooperation actions in Central America for the management of Health Facility Waste.

Storage Warehouses

The loan will make it possible to expand and modernize the cold chain throughout Argentina and improve the existing building facilities. Storage space will be increased, and adequate conditions will be guaranteed for the storage of different vaccines in each province.

Sustainable vaccination centers for native peoples

There will be three in the provinces of Chaco, Chubut, Salta and Santiago del Estero. They will be located in rural areas and six of them will also be located in areas of climatic risk.

The vaccination centers will have cold storage chambers powered by photovoltaic panels.

The main beneficiaries include native communities such as Pilagá, Vilela, Lules, Chulupí, Qom, Mocoví and Wichí in Chaco; Mapuche in Chubut; Guaraní-Chané, Chorote-Toba-Wichi in Salta; and Tonocotec in Santiago del Estero.
