The Institutional Relations Unit (Spanish acronym REINS) is responsible for monitoring, fostering, and strengthening CABEI relations with countries associated to Central America. These countries may be official CABEI members or governments with important ties to the region. REINS also manage relations with CABEI international partners and monitor the Bank’s strategic alliances.
- Internationally, REINS coordinates and maintains relations with Central America’s, main development actors, whether agencies or government institutions.
- Regionally, REINS is responsible for CABEI’s position as a primary financial reference. REINS also represent, coordinate, and manage CABEI interests at various venues: summits, ministerial/cabinet meetings, conferences, regional initiatives, and Central American/Latin American institutions.
- Nationally, REINS maintains relations with the three markets of each beneficiary country: financial, private, and public. REINS pays special attention to CABEI’s strategic positioning in order to meet the needs of the respective market.
REINS support CABEI business and funding activities by coordinating operations with the Bank’s different units.
Through its representational duties, REINS assists CABEI in identifying new business opportunities in member countries. Likewise, REINS helps to identify new sources of international funding.
Part of REINS representational responsibilities includes supporting inter-institutional relations. By coordinating and putting on the same page different units, REINS helps to give CABEI a uniform external posture.
As a staff office of CABEI’s Executive administration, REINS prepares, documents, and coordinates senior leadership’s participation at different institutional events
Finally, REINS represents CABEI in regional initiatives (such as the Puebla Panama Plan) and at international cooperation venues (such as the G-16 aligning and harmonization forums).
