This Project will contribute to the economic development of the population from the Municipality of Turin, Department of Ahuachapán, Republic of El Salvador, through the direct benefit of 1,600 of its inhabitants.

This Project was made possible thanks to the Central American Border Zone Development Program (executed by the European Union (EU) and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), and the Mayorship of Turin.

The European Union, represented by Mr. Wouter Wilton and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, represented by Mr. Ricardo Francisco Mora will inaugurate the Project “Improvement of Juan de Dios del Cid School”, at the Municipality of Turin, Department of Ahuachapán, El Salvador on November 18, 2008.

The Project has a total investment of US$194,048.00 and was completed thanks to the economic support of the EU and CABEI with the contribution of US$172,648.00, and the Mayorship of Turin with US$21,400.00.

The execution of the project came as a request submitted by the Mayorship of Turin, in view of the need of educational infrastructure for actual and future students. The school’s conditions represented a risk to the students´ lives from the damages their classrooms received after the 2001 earthquakes.

The improvement of the school consisted in building 6 new classrooms and reconstructing 8 existing classrooms, in addition to the construction of additional bathrooms, a cellar and a kitchen and dining area for students and teacher.
