CABEI grants a US$ 1.500,000 Million Line of Credit to Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Taulabé, Limitada.
Tegucigalpa, Honduras, October 20, 2008

Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Taulabé, Limitada of the Republic of Honduras has, as from October 20th, a Global Line of Credit to finance working capital and medium and long term operations.
The purpose, through this mechanism, is to provide financial savings and credit services to its affiliate members aimed at improving and their community’s economic , social and cultural condition, by stimulating savings, investment and a healthy use of credit.

The geographic area serviced by Cooperativa Taulabé reaches the four departments of the central corridor of the country. The Cooperative has 9 offices in the following cities: Taulabe, Siguatepeque, Comayagua and El Rosario in the Department of Comayagua; La Paz and Marcala in the Department of La Paz; San Pedro Sula in the Department of Cortés; and Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela in the Department of Francisco Morazán
At present, Cooperativa Taulabe has more than 21,797 affiliates, and its main activity is granting financing for trade, housing, productive sectors, agriculture, livestock, among others, in addition to providing savings services for its members.
Mr. Carlos Montoya, Director for Honduras of CABEI, comments that the Bank has included cooperatives as its financial intermediary institutions because it considers they are an efficient channel to reach the sectors in most need of funding opportunities, among which the MIPYMES and rural small-scale producers.

“With the beginning of this alliance, both institutions are committed with development, allowing beneficiaries to have better living conditions, generating new employment, opportunities in product diversification, having access to a dignified housing, promoting the possibility of having productivity, encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit, and contributing to poverty reduction in our country” pointed out Montoya.

About Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Taulabé, Limitada

The Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Taulabé, Limitada, is based in the city of Taulabe, Department of Comayagua, Republic of Honduras. Created August 25, 1971, it is a non profit private organization and member of the Federation of Saving and Loan Cooperatives of Honduras (FACACH, in Spanish).

The cooperative has 37 years of experience in this sector, and its main activity is financing trade, housing, productive sectors, and agriculture among others, in addition to savings services for its associates and their families. The institution will continue strengthening its equity base to service its affiliates with different innovative financial services in order to sustain the Cooperative’s growth.
