The Central American Bank for Economic Integration is constantly seeking to improve the performance of public sector road projects in Honduras, in order to expedite their implementation and favor the achievement of the objectives in the established timeframe.
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration is hosting today at its headquarters in Tegucigalpa, a workshop to review the public sector portfolio, aimed at improving the performance of the projects of this sector in the Country.
In the case of the Republic of Honduras, there are to date 24 active operations that add up to a total amount of $565.68 Millions, distributed in different areas among which can be highlighted: Road Infrastructure, Energy, Rural Development, Water and Sanitation, and Health and Education.
Until now, projects approved to the public sector concentrate namely in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG, in Spanish) and the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Housing (SOPTRAVI), with which t 5 or 6 projects respectively are currently being executed.
The main beneficiaries of these workwhops will be the Project Implementing Units and the Ministers and Ministries implementing Projects with CABEI resources, since with this initiative it is expected to obtain feedback from both parties to assure greater efficiency in the achievement of the Projects.
The Vice-Minister of Finance, Mr. Hugo Castillo, the Minister of SOPTRAVI and Acting Vice-President of CABEI, Mr. Roberto Serrano, were present at the Opening Ceremony of the Workshop.
