CABEI sponsors risk management workshop for Latin America
Tegucigalpa, Honduras, July 21, 2008

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) partnered with the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (Spanish Acronym ALIDE) to hold a workshop/advisory session entitled “Basilea II, Risk Models and Loan Portfolio Follow-up”. The event took place at CABEI Headquarters on the 21st and 22nd of July.


The event was opened by CABEI Acting Vice President Roberto Serrano and by Javier Rodriguez, Head of ALIDE’s Technical Assistance Program.

Among the discussion points during the workshop were Credit Risks, Loan Portfolio Follow-up, and Collection Tools. Also included was a session called “Computer Solutions: Risk Model Manager” designed for high-level officials of Development Banks and Banking Supervisory Organizations.

Running the workshop was a team of consulters-instructors from a Spanish firm called Artificial Intelligence Applications (AIS), a group with ample experience in designing and developing technical solutions and computer programs for banking risks.

Attending this important event were representatives from institutions of 10 Latin American Countries: Uruguay, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Panama, Paraguay, Venezuela, and 3 CABEI founding member countries (Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras).


About the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE):

ALIDE is the international organization that represents Latin American and Caribbean development banking. It was created in 1968 and, at the invitation of the Government of Peru, established its permanent headquarters in Lima, Peru’s capital city. 80 banks and financial organizations from Latin American, Canada, Germany, and Spain make up the membership of ALIDE.
