Agreement will facilitate the execution of high-priority projects in CABEI member countries.

With the goal of strengthening cooperation with governments, autonomous regions, international and regional organizations, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) on June 18 signed an inter-institutional framework agreement with the Lombardy Region of Italy.
This agreement will allow Lombardy to take the necessary measures to sustain its international stature i.e. maintain the region as an engine of the European and global economies. Part of this will be done through the establishment and development of international relations that will foster project implementation and increase collaboration.
The accord was formalized at CABEI headquarters in Tegucigalpa, undersigned by Acting Executive President Dr. Nick Rischbieth and Lombardy President Roberto Formigoni
The primary actions foreseen in the agreement are technical cooperation initiatives, along with joint programs and projects that will be carried out in CABEI beneficiary countries. Such activities will be initiated directly by Lombardy, or by entities, companies, or institutions of public, private, or mixed character.
The agreement falls under a framework of strengthening existing relations with the Government of Italy, initiated with the Fondo Unico Italiano de Cooperación (FUIC), a cooperation agreement signed between CABEI and the Italian Foreign Ministry in 2006.
FUIC includes a joint-financing program, a technical cooperation program, an Italian Distinguished Expert Assignment program, as well as other financial programs.
