A loan for the sum of up to sixteen million three hundred thirty-four thousand nine hundred and eighty-five U.S. dollars (US$16,334,985.00) to Nicaragua. The executing organization will be the Nicaraguan National Police. The loan funds will be used exclusively by the borrower to finance the project, “Expansion of the Rural Coverage of the National Police to Increase Public Safety,” pursuant to the global investment approved by the Bank. The project is in line with Nicaraguan govenment plans, specifically its economic growth and poverty reduction strategy, whose medium-term goals are outlined in the National Human Development Plan. The project is also in conformitywith the 2008-2012 National Plan to Increase Public Safety.
